As a Visiting Specialist Clinic (VSC) Coordinator with Lifemark health – Canadian Surgery Solutions you are responsible for the overall performance of the VSC Department including, but not limited to, scheduling surgeon clinics with the Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) Surgical Booking Coordinator(s); coordinating with other health professionals, patients and customers; adherence to contracts, the Canada Health Act and FIOPP; and maintaining expedited surgical cycle times.
Possesses critical thinking and assessment skills. Ability to analyze data, problem solve and make decisions. Strong computer skills

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating the booking and communication of appointments, medical tests and assessment as directed by the physician and the WCB.
• Establishing strong working relationships and continuous communication with the WCB Case Managers, physicians, nurses and diagnostic centers.
• Conducting rigorous follow-up regarding client progress through physician referred testing and assessment processes and communicating outcomes to the customer within the established time frames.
• Assisting with the management of client health records ensuring they are charted, organized and properly stored.
• Conducting orientations for new medical staff including coaching to ensure customer service expectations are met and exceeded.
• Educating other staff members to provide coverage on an occasional basis
• Contributing to continuously identifying and developing process improvements for successful management of the program.
• Implementing new physician and diagnostic services as required.

Formal Education

• High School Diploma
• Graduate of a recognized Medical Office Assistant program preferred.
• Medical Terminology course required.

Experience

• 1-2 years current experience in a medical office setting.
