Pharmacy Assistant

As a Pharmacy Asssistant you will report to the Head Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacist on duty, Pharmacy designated Manager, Head office staff

Responsibilities include

  • Ensuring accurate documentation of completed work as per policies and procedures.
  • Documenting, and answering client/clinic inquiries in a timely manner via email, telephone, or in person
  • Preparing prescriptions (gathering data from patients) to be filled via dispensary software
  • Processing, adjudicating, dispensing, and filling prescriptions
  • Preparing compounds – creams, liquids, etc.
  • Setting up Third Party Billings and resolving any and all issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  • Assisting pharmacy with labeling, pumping, juicing, bagging, and manifesting where possible
  • Ensuring that orders/deliveries and returns are properly documented as per the policies and procedures
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Processing and verifying cash tracking measures as per the policies and procedures
  • Controling, documenting, and handling returns for destruction as per policies and procedures
  • Maintaining filing of prescriptions (up to date, in numerical sequence). Refering to Filing Guidelines for clarification.
  • Ensuring processed scripts are on hand and easily retrievable for two years, as per the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Familiar with inventory control

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician or certification from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Working knowledge of retail math
  • Visual acuity, numeracy, detail oriented, manual dexterity appropriate for handling strip packs, prescription bottles and labels.
  • Strong computer skills including a good working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Excel and Outlook
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, able to maintain a professional demeanor when speaking with clientele. Remains calm under pressure and is able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience; strong motivation to succeed
  • Possess a positive, cooperative and team oriented attitude
