Occupational Therapist - Aging Services
As an Occupational Therapist with LifeMark’s Eldercare (long term care) and On The Go (retirement residences & seniors’ housing) division, you will have many opportunities to challenge yourself through applying a broad range of skills to your work with older adults. Responsibilities include:
- Performing clinical assessments and appropriate follow-up for individuals living in residential care communities
- Providing informal education on transfers, bed mobility and ADL status of residents to nursing staff, as well as ongoing education to residents to improve function, independence and safety.
- Documenting clinical findings in accordance with the regulations of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Clinical scope of practice may include: participation at falls and restraint committee rounds, restraint reviews, , implement falls prevention initiatives, environmental assessments and equipment recommendations, consultation with nursing staff on restorative care programming, assess residents for ADL and feeding programs and make appropriate referrals, conduct upper extremity splinting, and assess for positioning needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Registration, or Eligibility for Registration, with the provincial Association of Registered Occupational Therapists
- Preference given to applicants who are Registered Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizers in the Ambulation Aids, Wheelchair and Positioning Devices/Seating categories.
